1. Who can submit a request
- Customers (the account holder who submitted data) can request removal or deletion of any content or data associated with their account or API key.
- People who appear in content we host (including legacy transcript pages) can request removal of that specific page, even if they are not the Customer who submitted it.
- Anyone can report content they believe violates our Terms or Acceptable Use Policy (illegal content, harassment, doxxing, and similar), or that infringes their copyright.
- Individuals in the EEA, UK, California, and elsewhere can exercise privacy rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection) over personal information we hold as a controller.
2. How to submit a request
Email [email protected] with the subject “Takedown Request” or “Data Request” and include:
- the URL(s) in question, if applicable;
- what you are asking for (removal, deletion, a copy of your data, a correction, and so on);
- if you are not the Customer: enough information for us to reasonably identify that the content concerns you (for example, your username as shown on the page), and your relationship to it;
- your contact details so we can follow up; and
- for copyright notices, the items listed in Section 5.
3. What happens next
- Acknowledgment: we confirm receipt within 3 business days.
- Verification: we may ask for information to verify your identity or authority, proportionate to the request. For a Customer’s own data we verify against the account.
- Customer deletion requests: normally completed within 5 business days.
- End-user removal requests: where content clearly identifies the requester and there is no overriding reason to keep it (such as a legal hold or an active dispute), we will remove it, and may inform the Customer who submitted it.
- Abuse reports: we review and remove substantiated violations; severe or clear violations may be removed first and reviewed afterwards, and accounts may be suspended or terminated.
- Privacy requests: we respond within 30 days (45 days for California residents), and may extend as the law permits, telling you why. If we hold your data only as a processor for a Customer, we will refer you to the Customer.
4. Timeframes
We aim to resolve most requests within 10 business days. Complex matters, including disputes between a Customer and an individual about the same content, may take longer, and we will keep you informed.
5. Copyright (DMCA) notices
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices that comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). Send a notice to the contact above that includes: (a) your physical or electronic signature; (b) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; (c) identification of the material and its URL, with enough detail for us to find it; (d) your contact information; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act for the owner.
If we remove content in response to a notice, we will tell the Customer who submitted it. They may send a counter-notice including their signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that they believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and their consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for their district (or, outside the U.S., any judicial district in which we may be found). If a valid counter-notice is received, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the claimant tells us they have filed a court action. We may terminate accounts of repeat infringers. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing or was removed by mistake may make you liable for damages.
6. Limitations
- We may decline a request if the content is subject to a legal hold, an active investigation, or a legal retention requirement, and will explain why where we can.
- We cannot verify every requester with certainty; we use reasonable judgment and may ask for more information, particularly for requests that could harm another person.
- We cannot remove copies that others have already made or that exist on other sites.
7. Appeals
If you disagree with the outcome, reply to our resolution email and explain why. We will take a second look. Our decision on content moderation is generally final after that, but this does not affect your rights under the law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.
8. Legal process
Law enforcement and legal requests (subpoenas, court orders) should be sent to [email protected]. We review requests for validity and scope, may object or narrow them, and where legally permitted will notify the affected Customer before disclosing their data.
